Tucked away in the heart of Ireland, flanking our flagship river, the Shannon, lies a small distillery celebrating a timeless craft. It’s here, amid pure waters and peat bogs, that we handcraft our small-batch Irish spirits. Every drop is born of Irish grain, distilled slowly in copper stills, and matured patiently in the finest casks. We make our whiskey the way things were once done — by hand, by feel, and by heart — creating spirits with real depth, authenticity, and a true sense of place.
From the stills of Lough Ree comes spirits for those who seek discovery, integrity, and a taste of Ireland.

The Power of Connection
It’s easy to spot when we’re connected to people or places – but not so easy to define the reasons for those connections.
At Lough Ree, we think that the first connection that a great whiskey should have is to its own native place. We’re located on the mighty River Shannon at the meeting place of the East & West of Ireland, in the Hidden Heartlands
This is not just a geographical coming together, but also a merging of traditional & modern Ireland. A place where we are inspired by tradition but not bound by it.
Our sense of connection also comes from the fact that Lough Ree was founded by a family who believe deeply in the power of family, community and the value of enjoying genuine connection.
We believe that this link between whiskey, its place and its people is what helps you foster your own connection with those who matter most to you, and in whose company makes each sip of Lough Ree that much more magical.

Spirits born of passion, dedication and quality, deeply rooted in Ireland’s hidden heartlands.
Based in Lanesborough, Co. Longford, where our family’s story began, and where we continue our legacy and build on our connections.
The idea of starting a distillery has been a topic of dinner table conversation among the Clancy family for some time. As plans came together we thought long and hard about where to locate the new venture. While we are passionate about Lanesborough, where we grew up, we are all too practically minded to make the decision on purely sentimental grounds.
Then the penny dropped. Lough Ree Distillery is all about connection: connecting Whiskey tradition with modern technology. Connecting the gentle pace of rural Ireland with the confidence of a new generation. So it was more than our own roots that decided it for us. It was the bridge connecting East and West, the roads and river that connect Lanesborough to the rest of the region. Then, after securing the ideal premises we found out that our great grand uncle was resident there at the time of the 1901 Census.
