Discover the brand where it all began for us, Slingshot Gin. The word Slingshot evokes thoughts of a David & Goliath style legend.. on the shores of Lough Ree we remember the tale of the demise of Queen Maeve, by a Slingshot from the Longford shore as she bathed at Inchcleraun (Quaker Island). Sling Shot creates a sense of strength, passion and determination, all qualities we evoke when producing our multi-award winning uniquely peated gin, a world first.

On this day, 90 years ago, 4th Sept 1936, May Clancy gave birth to her second son in this house, St. Gerards’s, on Circular Rd in Kilkee, Co. Clare. May and her husband Bertie didn’t live there - this was the local midwifes house back in pre-war Kilkee. Their son grew up and trained to be a Metalwork Teacher. In 1960 he relocated to Lanesborough, Co. Longford as one of the first 5 teachers in the newly opened Technical School in the town. Their son’s name was Bartholomew. Some 80 years after his birth, three of his children, Peter, Sheila & Mike opened Lough Ree Distillery in their hometown of Lanesborough. In 2021 they created the Bart’s series of blended Whiskies, which bring the same precision and attention to detail to the art of whiskey blending, as Bart’s gifted hands and legendary patience brought to his retirement passion for mending clocks. Regardless of the pursuit, the phrase “excellence is in the details“ applies in equal measure. And so today, on what would have been Dad’s 90th birthday, we felt it was fitting to complete the circle, and wonder at the twists and turns, coincidences and quirks that life’s journey brings us all on. We have no doubt that Bart himself, and our grandparents, May and Bertie would be amazed to think that Whiskies bearing the Bart’s and Clancy name would be available in 14 countries around the world 90 years later. And in such diverse places as India, Singapore, Ukraine, Hong Kong, USA, Poland, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Denmark & Italy. Find joy in life’s details. This week, we had the privilege of launching an exclusive society bottling for our good friends @dfb1875_whiskey_club at @thepalacebardublin, marking their first Inaugural Whiskey Release as part of the 150th commemorative celebrations of the Great Whiskey Fire of Dublin. A huge thank you to @tracey_brian, @ralphie1012 , @deccyrice, and all the members of the DFB1875 Whiskey Club for collaborating with us on this milestone release. We were truly honoured to be part of such a landmark occasion for the society, and we’re delighted with the fantastic feedback the release has received. We’d also like to extend our sincere thanks to the society for their generous gift - a beautifully framed copy of The Great Dublin Whiskey Fire, signed by poet Ger Devine.
